The Liberating Power of Mutual Aid

Guest in the Pulpit: Natalie Binder

For many people the last year has contributed to a sense of helplessness or powerlessness in the face of political and social crises. Often it feels like the only solutions are voting, donating money or protesting in the streets. It can seem like change is incremental and far away. But our country has a long history of alternative power structures that can offer immediate change and a role for everyone. Mutual aid, labor unions, and other forms of solidarity can help liberate our spirits, our power, and most importantly, each other.

Our Share the Plate this Sunday is for the Kearney Center. Half of the money collected this Sunday will go to this social justice partner.  Click here for the three ways you can make your donation.

Our Zoom Sunday Service starts at 11:00 am

Also feel free to stay on after the service for more discussion at our Online Social (Half) Hour where, with the help of suggested questions for reflection, we’ll gather in breakout rooms to connect and deepen with each other!

Newcomers and other guests are invited to stay on for a special breakout room during this social time, even if you’ve been attending the service for a while or have participated in the breakout room before. You are always welcome to participate in one of the general break-out rooms instead.
