Special Newcomer/Guest Break-out Room Every Sunday After the Service

Newcomers and other guests, whether you have attended one virtual service or many, please join us in a special break-out room any Sunday during the social time following the service. You are welcome to participate in this break-out room more than once. It will be an opportunity for you to get to know us and us to get to know you. You can also share about what brought you to UUCT and ask questions you might have. And if you would rather just participate in one of the general break-out rooms during social time, you are always invited to do so. In the meantime, if you have any questions about the break-out room or about the church, please email: welcome@uutallahassee.org

Mindful Meditation

By Arden Kelly

You are welcome to join us every Sunday from 3pm to 4pm EST on Zoom. We are a community of meditators who come together for a chance to center ourselves with calm and focus. Each week a member of the group leads the meditation, drawing from a variety of Buddhist thought. Our usual practice starts with a guided meditation or a passage reading while seated, followed by a walking meditation, then finishing with a silent meditation. At the conclusion, we share our experiences with each other.

Whether you are new or seasoned to the practice of meditation, all are welcome. Please email Ardenkelly@yahoo.com for the Zoom link invitation to be sent to you every Saturday.

Arden Kelly is a Director & Teaching Artist Acting/Voice & Speech/Voiceover/Singer pursuing a Masters in London

By Warren Brackman

Join speaker Robert Rivas, Attorney, FEN, Sunday March 7  from  3:00 – 5:00 PM EST in a discussion of aid in dying and other lawful means to make personal choices about the manner and precise timing of your death. This presentation is co-sponsored by Humanists of Tallahassee (HOT), Final Exit Network (FEN), and American Atheists.

Speaker Robert Rivas is a Tallahassee attorney who has practiced at the cutting edge
of the right to die movement since the mid-1990s, when he represented the
Hemlock Society, As general counsel for the Final Exit Network (FEN), a national volunteer group that descended from Hemlock. Mr. Rivas has fought legal battles across the country against overreaching government attempts to deny the right to make choices in dying.

Food For Thought – a healthier you, a healthier planet

By Linda Oaksford

For the past few months, we’ve been concentrating on healthy sustainable diets. However, at our next meeting in March we will go more global. At the March 11th Food for Thought – a healthier you, a healthier planet meeting, we will view and discuss a video about the 2019 EAT-Lancet Commission’s Report “Food Planet Health – Healthy Diets From Sustainable Food Systems” presented by its two lead authors, Prof. Walter Willet MD and Prof. Johan Rockstrom PhD, first launched in Oslo, Norway. Very briefly, the report establishes one goal, to achieve planetary health diets for nearly 10 billion people by the year 2050, through two targets and five strategies.

Please consider joining us for our Food for Thought zoom meeting on Thursday March 11th at 7 pm. If you are not on our email list and are interested in attending, please email Linda Oaksford at lloaksford@gmail.com. A link will be sent to you prior to our meeting.
